SAIO Offshore becomes member of the STC-Group

The STC-Group has acquired 100% of SAIO offshore training, re-labeling it: STC-SAIO Offshore. In addition, the STC-Group take a share in SAIO Onshore. The STC-Group is an international training & research institute for the Shipping, Transport and Port Industry. As the only truly recognized institute in this area in the Netherlands, the STC-Group achieved an important step in its development with the acquisition of SAIO Offshore Training. The acquisition fits into the strategic policy of the STC-Group which aims to strengthen the knowledge infrastructure for the (important) Dutch maritime cluster. The STC Group will strenghten the market position of STC-SAIO with investments and support.

SAIO is one of the few accredited training centres for Offshore in the Netherlands and is now part of the public knowledge infrastructure. SAIO is located in the Heysehaven of Rotterdam. The existing knowledge, additional (international) network of clients and the unique location of SAIO made the match for the STC-Group complete. The Port of Rotterdam and the major customers of SAIO have responded positively to the news.

According to Erik Hietbrink, chairman of the board of the STC-Group, SAIO is an unique and wonderful addition to the existing offer. Both the public - (such as the Shipping, Transport and Maritime College), the private part (the training courses and the STC BV) and projects (the recently started European Transport Academy) and the international offices can greatly benefit from this acquisition. He praises the commitment and decisiveness of the current shareholders and management of SAIO (SAIO Offshore). The STC-Group will ensure continuity in the quality, the development of opportunities, broadening the offered portfolio and strengthening the management and staff. There are no redundancies and additional investments have been announced.

The ambition of STC-SAIO, is to become the leading training & expertise centre for the offshore industry. All knowledge needed for applied research within the activities in the offshore, from hydrography to positioning of large production and storage units, all internationally recognized safety training and new knowledge for the offshore within recognized MBO, HBO and Master, will be offered here!
