Rigging & Slinging Training in cooperation with Franklin Offshore

In close cooperation with Franklin Offshore and DNV, SAIO has developed a 3-day Rigging & Slinging training. This theoretical and practical training is not only meant for operational personnell but also for engineering and purchasing staff. This training will cover all aspects of Rigging, Slinging en Mooring, such as Knowledge of materials, Selection of equipment, Load calculations and safe use.

The main reason for the development of this training is insufficient knowledge of materials and equipment. This, in combination with insufficient practical skills of the staff, very often leads to unsafe situations, loss of time and unnecessary damage to equipment and materials.

The 'pilot'-training will take place in the beginning of December. The participants in the 'pilot' are mainly employees of companies that are represented in the warranty commission. These companies are among other Franklin Offshore, DNV, Heerema Marine Contractors, Seaway Heavy Lifting, Scaldis Salvage & Marine contractors, GN Rope Fittings, Tractel, Lankhorst and Van Beest. The first 'open' Rigging and Slinging training will start January 2012. The participants in this training that pass the exams will receive a DNV certificate.
